Potomac Investment Management, Inc. was founded in January of 1987. We provide portfolio management services to individuals, families, and small businesses primarily in Maryland. Individual portfolios are constructed and managed based on the investing objectives of a client. We also offer accredited investors the opportunity to invest in Potomac Equity Fund Limited Partnership. As a fee-only investment adviser, we place client interests above all others. We are not financial planners or a brokerage company. Client portfolios hold individual stocks and bonds, although some of our smaller portfolios also use mutual funds. Bonds are bought to create and maintain an intermediate term maturity ladder using the highest quality securities available, usually United States Treasury obligations. Bonds may be bought either on the open market or at auction, and are held until maturity. At maturity, the proceeds are reinvested back into the maturity ladder, thus taking away all interest rate risk while maximizing income and yield. Stocks are bought based on a value approach, where the first priority is to minimize the risk of permanent loss of capital. Stocks which meet our criteria for purchase have strong balance sheets and meet one or more of the following value criteria A low price to earnings ratio; a high yield; a low price to book value ratio; a low price to net current assets ratio; or steady long term book value growth rates. For more information about our services, including a full description of our investing policies and fees, please contact our office to request copies of our Form ADV Part 2, Code of Ethics, and Statement of Investing Principles. They will be promptly provided to you through email delivery in an Adobe pdf file format.
